The brand Obi Mobiles will be initially funded by Singapore-based Inflexionpoint, which will initially invest $20 million in the smartphone business. The company will launch smartphone in the range Rs. 5,000-Rs 8,000 in India.
According to report, John Sculley said — The brand is expecting 20% gross Margins due to frugal expense model. He also expects to sell a million units and be profitable within five months.
Obi Mobiles Smartphone will be bundled with valued added services. Obi Mobiles is headed by Ajay Sharma, who previously headed Micromax smartphone division and country head for HTC India.
The smartphone will be manufactured by Singapore-based Dragon Technology in china. The smartphone will be distributed by Inflexipoint owned, Iris computers in India. Iris Computers will distribute smartphones in India through its branches and vendors.
