Microsoft Office for Android tablets

Today, Microsoft has released Microsoft Office apps for Android Tablets. Microsoft has released individual Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for Android Tablets. Microsoft has also released Outlook app for iOS and Android devices.

Microsoft office apps for Android Tablets has been under beta testing since several months. Now Microsoft has released the stable versions of all Office apps.

Microsoft in blog post said:

Word, Excel and PowerPoint for Android tablets are built from the ground up for touch and are perfect for mobile productivity. Large touch points make it easy for even the fattest of fingers to navigate commands. External keyboards can be connected but certainly aren’t needed. Existing documents open and render beautifully and are accessible instantly from device to device via a roaming “most recently used” file list.

The preview program itself generated more than 250,000 downloads for all the apps across 33 languages in more than 110 countries. We had 3,000 Android device variants covering more than 500 models with different sizes and hardware capabilities. There was high engagement with 80 percent of people trying the apps. With 30,000 active users in various communities, we received a constant flow of feedback.

You can download the Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps from the Google Play store.

Outlook App for iOS and Android:

Outlook App on iOS iPad

Along with Office apps, Microsoft has also released a full fledged Outlook app for iOS and Android. Outlook app has been there in the Google Play Store since couple of years. Outlook Web App was also available on iOS but it required an active Microsoft 360 subscription.

Now Microsoft has finally released its email client on iOS for all users. Outlook app for Android comes with a preview tag, as the app is still under development. Once all the features are added to the app, the preview tag will be removed.

The new Outlook app brings together the core tools you need to get things done—your email, calendar, contacts and files—helping you get more done even on the smallest screen.

Official  description from Apple App Store:

Outlook is a free email app that helps you get more done from anywhere with one unified view of your email, calendar, contacts, and attachments. Outlook automatically surfaces your most important messages – across all your email accounts. Swipe to quickly delete, archive, or schedule messages you want to handle later. Easily view your calendar, share available times, and schedule meetings. And attach files from your email, OneDrive, or Dropbox with just a few taps.

Outlook works with Microsoft Exchange, Office 365,, iCloud, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail.

Outlook can sync mail, contacts, calendar and files from Office 365, Exchange Online, Exchange Server (2007 SP2, 2010, 2013), (including Hotmail, Live, and MSN), Gmail, iCloud and Yahoo! Mail.

For cloud storage, Outlook connects to OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive and Box. We will be updating Outlook to connect to OneDrive for Business.

You can download Outlook App from the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
