Asus Zenfone 3 Max

Asus, the Taiwanese smartphone brand has sent out a press release saying that the company is pushing an update for their various ZenFone series of devices which adds support for the much anticipated VoLTE. So, customers with the following mentioned device can now use a Reliance Jio 4G SIM card on their ZenFone device.

The Asus ZenFone devices which are receiving the update is:

  • Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe 5.7-inch (ZS570KL)
  • Asus Zenfone 3 5.2-inch (ZE520KL)
  • Asus Zenfone 3 5.5-inch (ZE552KL)
  • Asus Zenfone 3 Laser (ZC551KL)
  • Asus Zenfone 3 Max 5.2 (ZC520TL)
  • Asus Zenfone 3 Max 5.5-inch (ZC553KL)
  • Asus Zenfone 3S Max 5.2-inch (ZC521TL)
  • Asus Zenfone Max ZC550KL ((2GB/16GB) / (2GB/32GB) / (3GB/32GB)
  • Asus Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE550KL (2GB/16GB) (3GB/16GB))
  • Asus Zenfone Go 5.0 LTE (ZB500KL (2GB/16GB))

Besides these devices, the company also said that they will be rolling out an update to ZenFone 3 Ultra (ZU680KL) and ZenFone Selfie (ZD551KL) devices shortly and that update will also add the VoLTE feature.

That being said, VoLTE will be a next big thing in Indian telecom sector. What started as a trend by Reliance Jio will be soon followed by other telecom operators as well. Yes, Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telecom sector is reportedly testing the VoLTE feature in some areas of the country. Vodafone India will soon roll out the VoLTE support for some cities such as Mumbai and Delhi.

Having said that, Asus is pushing the update via an over-the-air update and that too in an incremental manner. So, don’t worry if your aforementioned Asus device did not receive the update as it will take some time to reach your phone, depending on your location.
