Last year in December, Micromax announced new subsidiary, Yu Televentures. Until now its smartphones were sold exclusively on eCommerce portal Amazon.
Now the company has announced that it will be selling its smartphones in India via offline retailers also. Yu has partnered with Reliance to sell its smartphones on Reliance Retail stores.
The smartphone will be available on more than 30,000 retail outlets in India. Initially YU Yuphoria, Yu Yunique and 8,999 smartphones will be sold on Reliance retail stores.
Reliance is also improving its retail chain, which will be expanded to 150,000 retail outlets and 1,200 distributors. The company will sell VoLTE and VoWiFi devices on its retail stores.
The devices will be sold at higher prices compared to online prices. Yu Yunique will be available at Rs. 6,499 instead on Rs. 4,999, YU Yuphoria will be available at Rs. 7,999 instead of Rs. 6,499 and YU Yureka Plus is available at Rs. 10,999 instead of Rs. 8,999.
