Samsung which launched Galaxy S5 last month during MWC 2014, had said that it will be available from 11 April. Samsung during launch event didn’t reveal the price tag. But in India both price tag and launch date is confirmed. Online retailer Saholic.com has listed the Galaxy S5 for ₹45,500($730).

Few days back Samsung has also reduced the price of Galaxy S4. Samsung Galaxy S4 is now available for less than ₹30,000. This move was to make space for Galaxy S5. Now Samsung Galaxy S5 price is also revealed. Saholic which has listed Samsung Galaxy S5 online claims that it will be delivered by 08 March, also says that if product is not delivered on scheduled date then it will pay ₹50 per day. But when we click on Buy Now it says that it is out of stock. This seems to be a marketing strategy by Saholic. By listing it online, it will attract large number of prominent buyers of Galaxy S5. It is also getting lots of media coverage by listing it online, so overall its good strategy to list the device a month before its official release.
Earlier it was rumored that Samsung will keep the price lower than previous models launch price, But looking at this price tag that rumors seems to conflict. The price of Galaxy S5 is more than Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3. Galaxy S4 was launched at ₹43,000. But if we consider the conversion rate then this price tag seems reasonable. Last year 1 USD was around ₹50-₹55 but at current time it around ₹62. So this price tag can be considered low.
On the Specification side it features waterproof body and Heart rate monitor. It features 5.1 FullHD 1080p display, it runs on 2.5 GHz quad core processor with 2GB RAM. It features 16 Megapixel camera with Super Auto Focus, HDR and 4K video capabilities. It will run on Android Kitkat 4.4.2. The device will be equipped with Advanced LTE and Wi-fi MIMO (802.11ac). The USB port in the device is of USB 3.0 standard. It comes in two memory options 16GB and 32GB, there is MicroSD slot by which memory can be increased to 64 GB.
Overall the price is somewhat reasonable but you also consider buying Galaxy S4 at only ₹30,000 only. Will you buy Galaxy S5 at ₹45,500?
