Last month WhatsApp rolled out new formatting features for its IM app on Android and Apple iOS. WhatsApp added Bold, Italics and Strikethrough formatting features on the app.
To show the text in Bold, Italics or Strikethrough in Whatsapp, we need to add certain characters before and after text. Earlier you need to add the special characters and send the message to a friend. And after sending the text, the formatting shows up.
Sometimes it becomes confusing because one may make mistakes and end up sending message without correct formatting. For example you want to send MakTechBlog in bold then you need to send it like *MakTechBlog * and it would show up in bold.
If some user forget to add asterisk (*) then WhatsApp message will not show up in Bold. But in latest beta version of WhatsApp, the Facebook owned company has added new feature which makes it easier to send messages in Bold, Italics or strike-through.
WhatsApp now previews the formatting in the editor itself. If you are adding underscore(_) before and after text for sending in italics then the message will be previewed in the editor itself.
As you can see in the image above, WhatsApp now shows Bold, Italics, Strikethrough message in the editor itself. So now you can check the message before sending it. For sending the message in strikethrough formatting add tilde(~) before and after text.
WhatsApp v2.16.25 can be downloaded from Play Store. It brings new features.
