The release of Apple iPhones for the year is over and now the focus is shifted towards the Google’s smartphones. Earlier this month, AndroidPolice reported that Google is reportedly dropping the famous Nexus brand and release them as Pixel smartphones.
The same news was supported by other reports as well and a couple of days back Google sent out the media invites for an event to be hosted on October 4 and already the search giant is heavily teasing the smartphones.
The so-called Nexus Sailfish will now be called as Google Pixel and the bigger sibling, Nexus Marlin will be called as the Pixel XL. And, the specifications of both the smartphones have been surrounding online for a while along with some real life images and renders as well. Take a look at the possible specifications of both the smartphones along with the leaked images.
Combination of Glass and Metal
As we already know that Google has partnered with HTC to manufacture the new phones and the struggling manufacturer HTC has a knack of manufacturing some good looking smartphones. However, a real life image of both the smartphones surfaced online last week and it shows that the smartphones will feature uni-metal body with one-third of the back will be made of glass.
Powerful Hardware
As expected, both the smartphones will arrive with powerful hardware onboard. The smaller phone- Google Pixel will feature a Snapdragon 820 chipset along with 4GB of RAM and the bigger phone Pixel XL might feature the latest Snapdragon 821 chipset with the same 4GB of RAM. However, there are rumors suggesting that Pixel XL might feature 6GB of RAM.
Same Cameras as their predecessors
Also, both the Pixel and Pixel XL said to feature the same 12MP camera on the back along with an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. However, HTC might upgrade the camera sensor to compete with rivals.
AMOLED Displays
Both the smartphones are expected to feature AMOLED panels with a QHD display on the Pixel XL and a 1080p display on the Pixel. Moreover, Google is also planning to decrease the screen size of the smartphones and the Pixel XL to arrive with a 5.5-inch screen and the Pixel to have a 5-inch compact screen.
Pixel-only Software
All the Google smartphones till date arrived with stock Android on board. But, this trend might change with the release of Pixel and Pixel XL as Google is also planning to add some software tweaks which are exclusive to Pixel devices only such as the Pixel Launcher, etc. But, a latest leak confirmed that they will arrive with Android 7.1. It is worth noticing that the interface won’t change much and remains almost same as the stock Android.
