The much-waited smartphones for the year are an inch away to be launched in India. Yes, you heard it right. Finally, Motorola is bringing their modular range of smartphones to India. Dubbed as the Moto Z and Moto Z Force, they are the company’s slimmest smartphones ever and has some functionalities similar to LG G5.
The Lenovo-owned company sent out media invites for an event to be held on October 4 and the invite looks quite interesting. The text written on the invite is “The innovation that’s worth the wait will be here on October 4, 2016,” along with all the company’s Razr phone photos with ‘Z’ at the end of the list, which shows that they are bringing the smartphones to India.
To recall, Motorola launched the Moto Z and Moto Z Force back in June and recently at the Computex 2016 event, they unveiled the smaller Moto Z Play. However, at this point of time, it is unclear whether Moto Z Play comes to India or not. Let’s quickly dive into the specifications of both the smartphones.
Starting off with Moto Z, the smartphone is one of the slimmest ones available in the market right now. With a thickness of 5.2mm, the Moto Z packs a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The handset also features the powerful and latest Snapdragon 820 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz along with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It also has 32GB of internal storage with support for expandable storage up to 128 GB with a microSD card slot.
In terms of camera, the Moto Z comes with a 13MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS. Also, there is a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture. The smartphone is powered by a 2,600mAh battery, which is relatively smaller and also has the company’s turbocharge feature.
Motorola Moto Z Key Specifications:
- 5.5-inch Quad HD Display with 518 PPI
- 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Processor
- 13 MP rear camera with OIS and dual-LED flash
- 5 MP front-facing camera
- 4 GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage
- Dual SIM-card support
- Non-removable 2600 mAh with TurboCharge Support
On the other hand, the Moto Z Force shares some similar specifications with the Moto Z such as the display size, processor, and RAM. However, the display on the Z Force is protected by the company’s own Shatterproof technology. Also, the camera on the bigger sibling will be 21MP along with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, and 4K video recording capabilities. The same 5MP camera can be seen in the front.
The Moto Z Force is not as slimmer as the Moto Z because of the larger 3,500mAh battery, which also has support for the TurboCharge technology.

The USP of both the smartphones will be the Moto Mods, which are same as the LG’s modular friends. Unlike, LG’s replaceable battery, the Moto Mods can be attached to the 16-pin on the back and there are several modules already available in the market such as JBL SoundBoost, a projector, and a battery pack.
Both the smartphones will be unveiled on October 4 and we expect that they will go on sale immediately after the launch. What are your thoughts on the pricing of the smartphones? We expect them to be launched under Rs. 50,000 to compete HTC 10, LG G5, and the latest Apple iPhone 7.
