After several leaks and rumors, Oppo managed to launch the Oppo R9s and R9s Plus selfie-centric smartphones. Both the smartphones are now official and are aimed at selfie lovers. Both the smartphones are touted as the successors to the R9 and R9 Plus launched earlier this year.

As the name itself suggests, the Oppo R9 is slightly a smaller variant than the R9s Plus. To make things easier, Oppo has added 16MP camera sensors on both front and back and that too on both smartphones. To recall, the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus came with 13MP cameras on either sides.

Diving into the specifications, the Oppo R9 comes with a 5.5-inch display which is a 1080p panel with curved 2.5D glass. There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, coupled with Adreno 506GPU and 4GB of RAM. Also, the device gets a 64GB of internal storage with support for microSD card slot along with a hybrid dual-SIM card slot.

Oppo has added a fingerprint scanner on both the smartphones into the home button, which is present just below the display. The smartphone comes with a 3,010mAh battery with the company’s own VOOC fast charge technology. Both the Oppo R9s and R9s Plus come with Color OS 3.0 on top of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

On the flip side, we have its brother- the Oppo R9s Plus with a bigger 6-inch 1080p screen. This 6-inch phablet comes with the latest Snapdragon 653 SoC along with mammoth 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The smartphone is armed with a 4,000mAh battery.

Now speaking about the special feature of both the smartphones, the Oppo R9s comes with a 16MP sensor on both front and rear, however, the rear camera just comes with Electronic Image Stabilisation with f/1.9 aperture and 4K video recording support. Both the smartphones has a f/2.0 aperture on the front. One change with the Oppo R9s Plus is that the smartphone comes with support for OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation).

On the hardware side, Oppo claims that the smartphones can deliver two hours of battery life with just five minutes of charge, which is insane. Speaking about the pricing, the R9s will be available in China from October 28 with a retail price of CNY 2,799 (approx. Rs. 28,000) and the R9s Plus comes with a price tag of CNY 3,499 (approx. Rs. 35,000), but it will on sale from December.
