Chinese vendors such as Xiaomi, Lenovo, LeEco, Coolpad, etc has been dominating the segment from last two years, which is making the homegrown manufacturers such as Micromax, Yu Televentures, Karbonn not able to keep up the pace in the segment.

1) Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
Undoubtedly, the best smartphone available to purchase right now under the Rs. 10,000 price bracket. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has been the top selling smartphone this year. The handset is available in two variants- one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage and the other with 3GB of RAM and 3GB of internal storage. Having said this, the 2GB/16GB variant costs Rs. 9,999, which isn’t much different from the 3GB RAM variant.
In terms of specifications, the Redmi Note 3 is quite powerful and packs Snapdragon 650 processor. It also has support for fingerprint sensor on the back along with 13MP rear camera and 8MP front facing camera. Also, it comes with a whopping 4,000mAh battery, which is a huge advantage for the smartphone.
2) LeEco Le 1S Eco
LeEco is a relatively new player in the Indian market, but the company quickly got attention from the Indian crowd. Soon after the launch of Le 1S, the company released an upgraded variant to the smartphone. Dubbed, the LeEco Le 1S Eco, it packs the powerful MediaTek Helio X10 chipset along with support for 3GB of RAM. Also, the smartphone comes with 13MP rear camera and 32GB of internal storage. 3) Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime
Xiaomi has been releasing a lot of smartphones this year. The company’s latest offering is the Redmi 3S Prime, which is priced at Rs. 8,999 and we call it as the stripped down version of the Redmi Note 3. It packs a new processor, which is the octa-core Snapdragon 430 chipset along with 3GB of RAM. It also got a 13MP rear camera along with a single tone LED flash and also a fingerprint scanner on the back, which is quick and accurate in unlocking the smartphone. Having said this, the smartphone is available through flash sales, which is a bit of a letdown.
4) Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus
After Xiaomi, Lenovo has the upper hand in the budget segment as the Chinese company has been releasing a slew of smartphones now and then. With the Vibe K5 Plus, the vendor is holding the budget category to some extent. The Vibe K5 Plus comes with a 5-inch 1080p display, which is good to see in a smartphone under the budget category. Under the hood, is a Snapdragon 616 processor along with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 405 GPU. However, the smartphone has a small battery of 2,750mAh and runs outdated Android 5.1 Lollipop. The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is priced at Rs. 8,499.
5) Coolpad Mega 2.5D
Another Chinese smartphone which was released recently. As the name itself suggests that the smartphone has a curved 2.5D glass on the front and features an all-metal body design. The Coolpad Mega 2.5D got all the features and competes with others in this list, but has only one drawback which is the battery capacity which stands at 2,500mAh. Also, the mobile is touted as selfie smartphone, because it has an 8MP front facing camera. It is priced at Rs. 6,999.
6) Meizu M3 Note
One more Chinese company in this list. This time, its Meizu with the M3 Note, which offers some incredible hardware for the sub Rs. 10,000 price bracket such as the octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and the mammoth 4,1000 mAh battery. The device goes against the Redmi Note 3 in terms of everything including the pricing, specifications, etc. Also, the device is priced at Rs. 9,999, which is same as the Redmi Note 3.
7) Asus Zenfone Max (2016)
The Taiwanese company recently updated the Asus Zenfone Max (2015) and is now called as Zenfone Max (2016). That said, the Zenfone Max offered some incredible battery life as it has the big 5,000mAh battery cell under the hood, but it came out with less powerful hardware. The Zenfone Max (2016) has some decent set of specs such as Snapdragon 615 chipset and 2GB of RAM. The battery capacity remains the same, though at 5,000mAh.
