Vivo V5

The range of selfies smartphones is increasing day-to-day. The Vivo V5 joins the elite list of selfie smartphones with its industry’s first 20MP front-facing camera. Well, that’s just not enough for the smartphone. There are competitors already sitting in the market such as the Oppo F1s and Gionee S6s and they are priced in the same range as well.

Having said that, these three smartphones also share some similar set of specifications among themselves, however, their performance will be different in real life situations. And, in this article, we will take you through the specifications of these smartphones and at the end will answer your question- which one should you buy going by the specifications. Let’s begin.

Design and Display

In terms of design, all the three smartphones sport a uni-metal body design and the Oppo F1s looks like an Apple iPhone clone. The Vivo V5 sports a decent design with a thickness of 7.5mm, whereas the Oppo F1s is 7.38mm thick, which is slightly less thick than the Gionee S6s.

Gionee S6s

Display wise, all the three smartphones sports the same 5.5-inch display, but the Gionee S6s sports a 1080p display, which is an added advantage, but also drains your battery life. Both the Vivo V5 and Oppo F1s feature 720p display and the latter has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection technology.

Hardware
This is the place where things get slightly similar to each other. The Vivo V5 and Oppo F1s comes with the same processor- MediaTek MT6750 which is an octa-core chipset. The Gionee S6s packs a slightly powerful MediaTek 6753 chipset. In terms of RAM, the Vivo V5 gets an upper hand with 4GB of RAM and the other two features 3GB of RAM, which is not bad, though. All the three phones come with 32GB of internal storage with support for expandable storage up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. So, there isn’t much to compare in this section as three of them has almost the similar hardware.

Camera
The section everyone is looking for. In terms of camera, the Vivo V5 wins the race, at least on paper because it has a 20MP front-facing camera with Moonlight flash and it is industry’s first phone as well to feature such a mammoth camera up front. Also, it comes with a 13MP rear camera. The Gionee S6s, on the other hand, has 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera and it falls behind the competition in specifications, but Gionee is branding it as a selfie smartphone.

The king of this segment, Oppo F1s comes with a 16MP front-facing camera and we all know how it captures images. Also, there is a 13MP rear camera as well. In this department, the latest entrant- Vivo V5 wins the race.

Software and Battery
Chinese phones are plagued with software issues all the time. Even the Xiaomi’s MIUI has way too many bugs. All the three smartphones in this comparison come with their own brand’s customized UI. The Oppo F1s comes with ColorOS 2.6 based on Android Lollipop, which is weird. Both the Gionee S6s and Vivo runs on Android Marshmallow based on their respective Amigo OS and Funtouch UI.

The Gionee S6s has a slightly bigger battery than the other two. With its 3150mAh battery, it gets a nod over the Oppo F1s with a 3075mAh battery and Vivo V5’s 3000mAh battery. So, the battery winner is the Gionee S6s.

Verdict?
The three selfie-centric branded phones, Gionee S6s, Vivo V5, and Oppo F1s has almost the similar hardware. But, the winner here is Vivo V5 with its industry’s first 20MP front-facing camera and Moonlight flash. The Vivo V5 is priced at Rs. 17,890. The Gionee S6s is available for Rs. 15,999 and the Oppo F1s still carries a price tag of Rs. 17,900.
