The Apple of China, Xiaomi has announced the successor to their last year’s popular smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 5c in China. With the Xiaomi Mi 5c, the company is entering the league of powering smartphones with their own SoC’s and the first chipset by the Chinese company is the Surge S1 which is an octa-core SoC competing with the likes of Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset.

In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi Mi 5c comes with a 5.15-inch Full HD display with 550 nits brightness. Aforesaid, the phone is powered by the octa-core Surge S1 SoC with four cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and four cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz. That said, the phone comes packed with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The storage can be further expandable via the microSD card slot. Graphics in the phone will be taken care by quad-core Mali-T860 GPU.

The phone has a 12MP rear facing camera with LED flash, 1.25 μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, 6P lens 27-mm wide angle lens, and an 8MP camera is present at the frontal part of the phone with f/2.0 aperture and 27 mm wide-angle lens. Connectivity options the phone include: 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB Type-C and the phone has 3.5mm headphone jack as well for audio output.

This entire package is backed by a 2860mAh, which also has support for fast charging technology. The phone comes in three color variants: Rose Gold, Gold and Black colors and is priced at 1499 yuan (approx. Rs. 14560). Xiaomi announced that the phone will go on sale from March 3 and there are no words on Indian availability yet.
