Xiaomi had a tremendous run with their Redmi series of phones. Last year’s Redmi Note 3 has sold over 3.5 million units, whereas the recently released Redmi Note 4 already sold a million units. And now, the Xiaomi claims that they have sold over 2,50,000 units in its first sale on March 23.
The smartphone went on sale in both Amazon India and Mi.com at 12 pm on March 23. The smartphone sold out in just four minutes. Xiaomi’s Global VP, Manu Kumar Jain has stated the milestone in his Twitter handle.
Amazon India also indicated that they have received nearly 1500 orders per minute and that’s a record breaking achievement till date. The director of Category of Management at Amazon India Noor Patel said, “Smartphones had been a top selling category on Amazon.in and the phenomenal sale today reinforces our focus on expanding the selection and giving our customers the best to choose from.”
“We are pleased with the record sales of more than 250,000 units of Redmi 4A on Amazon and Mi.com. The device has much to offer to customers, and it is the best in its price segment. Our Mi Fans are at the core of our business, and their response to the sale has been tremendous. This is our most affordable smartphone to date and delivers on our brand promise of innovation for everyone,” Xiaomi’s Raghu Reddy, Online Sales Head.
