Google, the search giant has started sending out media invites for an event in India scheduled on 15 September. Google might launch the much awaited Android One program which was announced back in June.
The invite doesn’t reveal any details about the upcoming announcement from Google. The invite is very cryptic, The invite reads:

FOR AN EXCITING NEW ANNOUNCEMENT FROM GOOGLE
The last line of the invite reads “More Deatils Closer to the date!”. It seems that Google might reveal more information prior to the launch date. It is also rumored that Google Android head Sundar Pichai will be present at the event and formally announce the Android One program in India.
During Google I/O, Google has announced its partnership with Indian manufacturer like Micromax, Karbonn and Spice to launch Android One Smartphones. The phone will be priced below $100 and have better specifications.
Android One powered handsets will receive updates directly from Google. OEMs can add their own apps. This is like Nexus devices which gets updates directly from Google. It will help manufacturers to seed latest updates without much lengthy process. All will reduce the cost of the phone.
Google will provide reference design to OEM which will help in reducing the cost of the phone. Android One smartphones will have Stock Android, Automatic updates and Play Auto Installs.
Android One powered devices will boost the sales of Smartphones in emerging markets. Google has also partnered with telecom partners to provide combined offers.
Android One handsets will go on sale after it is launched officially on 15 September. Android One powered smartphones will be priced below ₹6,000.
