Mukesh Ambani today announced that his brainchild, Reliance Jio has crossed 100 million user base and the quickest one to reach the milestone. With this achievement, Reliance Jio has now beaten state-run telecom operator BSNL to take place as India’s fourth largest telecom network.
Speaking at the NASSCOM Leadership Forum in Mumbai, Ambani said: “When we started Reliance Jio, we set a target for ourselves that we will acquire 100 million customers in shortest time. Even we didn’t imagine that we would do it in months,”.
Mukesh Ambani also spoke about the eKYC Aadhar enabled SIM activation system as We just set ourselves a goal. Aadhaar enabled us to acquire a million customer a day which is unheard of in the industry as a whole,”.
He also urges that Reliance Jio stands for affordability in a world where ‘data is the new oil.’
With this achievement, Jio has become a serious threat to incumbent operators. The major attraction for Jio is the free 4G services, where they are offering 1GB of free LTE data per day along with free calling as well. Nonetheless, Airtel, Idea, and Vodafone are continuously introducing new offer on a weekly basis to tackle Reliance Jio.
