Ringing Bell, a Noida based company launched its ultra affordable, Freedom 251 in India this week. The smartphone is priced at unbelievable price of Rs. 251. The booking of the smartphone started on 18th February.
Hours after starting the registrations, the company stopped registrations due to huge traffic. Yesterday the company resumed the registration window. The phone is priced at Rs. 251 plus Rs. 40 delivery charges which brings the total to Rs. 291.
Customers who registers need to make the complete payment in advance. So after paying Rs. 291, the customer gets confirmation mail. The Freedom 251 is launched at dirt cheap price, so everyone was excited to book the smartphone.
Now Ringing Bell has revealed that they have received 5 Crore registrations for Freedom 251 smartphone. All the customers have already payed in advance. So the company has generated Rs. 1455 Crores in just two days.
Ringing Bell has stopped taking further registrations on its website. In an interview with IANS, Ashok Chadda said they will first deliver only 25 Lakh smartphones at Rs. 251. The company aims to start production by April 10 and deliver the smartphone by 30 June to 25 lakh customers.
As per Chadda, the Freedom 251 will be delivered on first come first serve basis. On the freedom251.com website, the company writes that booking for Phase 1 has been closed. Ringing Bell assures to start the second phase of registrations soon.
We are not sure whether the company will deliver Freedom 251 to registered customers or not because practically making a smartphone at Rs. 251 is next to impossible. But the company has surely generated huge 1455 Crores into the pocket. The fate of all the registered customers will revealed in coming months.
