Lenovo, at their Tech World event in June unveiled two new phablets, the Phab 2 and Phab 2 Plus. However, only the younger brother Phab 2 Plus made all the way to India a couple of days ago. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi Max was launched in the country four months ago, but the Apple of China recently released an upgraded variant of the phone with 4GB of RAM.

The Lenovo Phab 2 Plus is priced aggressively at Rs. 14,999 in India, where as the Xiaomi Mi Max comes in two variants, one with 3GB of RAM priced at Rs. 14,999 and the other one with 4GB of RAM released recently and is priced at Rs. 19,999. Both the Xiaomi Mi Max and Lenovo Phab 2 Plus comes with almost similar display size of 6.44-inch and 6.4-inch respectively. Well, it is no doubt that both the phones are massive and incredibly hard to handle with one hand. And, do make a note that both the phones have the same 1080p resolution. Furthermore, the Mi Max comes with a 2.5D curved glass, whereas the Phab 2 Plus doesn’t have it.

Hardware
Considering both the phones are mid-rangers, we don’t expect them with much power. The Mi Max comes with a hexacore Snapdragon 650 chipset along with 3GB/4GB of RAM. We feel that 3GB RAM variant is more than enough for heavy usage as well.

Xiaomi Mi Max

On the flip side, the Lenovo Phab 2 Plus comes with a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT8783 chipset along with 3GB of RAM. So, we are not expecting much of a fire power from both the devices.

In the camera segment, the Phab 2 Plus has a clear advantage as it comes with 13MP dual rear camera with advantage in terms of augmented reality technology and an 8MP front-facing camera. The Xiaomi Mi Max comes with a 16MP rear camera with dual-tone flash and a 5MP front-facing camera.

Battery and Software
Both the smartphones run on latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS with their vendor’s own modified skin. The Xiaomi Mi Max runs MIUI 8 and the Lenovo Phab 2 Plus comes preloaded with Vibe UI.

In terms of battery, the Mi Max is the clear winner with its larger and bigger 4850mAh battery, whereas the Phab 2 Plus comes with a relatively smaller 4050mAh battery.

Verdict- Lenovo Phab 2 Plus has an edge in camera department
Speaking off the final verdict between the two smartphones, the Mi Max is another Android smartphone, but the Phab 2 Plus has some unique tweaks in its camera.
