Samsung has announced the much awaited Samsung Galaxy S5 During Unpacked event. We have already seen the leaked images of Samsung galaxy S5 which was leaked hours before official launch. The leaked images were true and Samsung galaxy S5 looks exactly same. It Features 5.1 FullHD 1080P Super AMOLED Display. Rumors were that Samsung might come up with QHD display for next flagship but that is proven wrong. The device is Dust proof and waterproof with IP67 Certification. Galaxy S5 can be placed in 1 meter water for 30 Minutes. It is also integrated with heartrate monitor and Fingerprint sensor.

Specification wise it features 5.1 FullHD 1080p display, it runs on 2.5 GHz quad core processor with 2GB RAM. It features 16 Megapixel camera with Super Auto Focus, HDR and 4K video capabilities. It will run on Android Kitkat 4.4.2. The device will be equipped with Advanced LTE and Wi-fi MIMO (802.11ac). The USB port in the device is of USB 3.0 standard. It comes in two memory options 16GB and 32GB, there is MicroSD slot by which memory can be increased to 64 GB.

The device packs 2,800 mAH battery which is capable of 290 hours of standby time. Samsung has added ultra power saving mode which boosts the battery and gives more usage time.

The back panel is of glossy material, which is called as ‘modern Glam’ by Samsung. As expected the device doesn’t features a metallic body instead a different material is used. It will be available in White, Charcoal Black, Blue and Gold.

The device will come with heart rate monitor for measuring heart rates. Galaxy S5 also features Fingerprint sensor built into home button as done by Apple in iPhone 5s. User has swipe the finger vertically in order to unlock the device. Fingerprint sensor in Galaxy S5 is not sophisticated as it was in iPhone 5s, after too many tries user phone unlock in galaxy S5.

Other features are Download Booster, which uses cellular data + Wi-Fi to give boost to downloads, S Health 3.0 which has new and improved health and fitness related features, Quick Connect, Private Mode and Kids Mode and many more.

Overall the device looks good, but its design looks like its predecessor Galaxy S4. Design doesn’t impress much, expectations from Samsung were too much high. The specs are not very high as it was rumored. The QHD display is missing and more.

The device will be available from 11 April worldwide.
