Samsung had launched its Tizen powered smartwatches, Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo during MWC. The Gear 2 smartwatch depends on smartphone for various things, and to to make smartwatch independent, Samsung is already working on its standalone cellular smartwatch.
Earlier this month we had reported that Samsung standalone smartwatch would be called as Gear 2 Solo. There were no details about specification about the smartwatch. But from latest import data obtained by us, the screen size of smartwatch has been confirmed.
The Gear 2 Solo will carry forward the same 1.63 inch screen. As you can see in the image above, Samsung has imported two units of SM-R710 Gear 2 Solo. The screen size of smartwatch is 1.63 inch. Each unit costs around Rs. 12,292. The original price will differ as this is just test unit.
Samsung has imported SM-R710 Gear 2 Solo smartwatch in India for Research and Development purpose. It is expected that it will be standalone cellular smartwatch and will come with USIM card slot. The watch will not be dependent on smartphone to make calls.
Along with Gear 2 Solo, Samsung has also imported its accessories. Its accessories include Adaptor Cradle and Bluetooth set.
Current, Gear 2 smartwatch has 1.63 inch screen, 1GHz processor, 512 MB RAM.
Other details like availability and pricing are not known at the moment.
