US tech giant, Apple Inc has started assembling its 4 inch Apple iPhone SE in India. The company has started the initial production of few units in the country. The ‘Made in India’ iPhone will hit shelves this month.

Apple iPhone SEApple has started assembling iPhones at an facility in Bengaluru. The company has partnered with its OEM Wistron to make iPhone in India. Earlier this year the company had assured that locally manufactured devices will be available in the country by second quarter and now the iPhone maker has started making devices in India.

Initially only Apple iPhone SE will be assembled in India by Taiwanese company Wistron Corp in Bengaluru (Bangalore). The price of Indian made iPhone SE is not announced by the company. But initially it will be priced similar to imported units.

India becomes the third country in the world where Apple has assembled its iPhone. It has started production under PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ scheme. If everything goes well then Indian assembled units will also be exported to other countries.

Apple iPhone SE features a 4 inch HD (1336 x 640 pixels) Backlit IPS LCD Display. It is powered by a 64 bit Apple’s home grown A9 chip coupled with M9 motion co-processor with 2GB of RAM.

iPhone SE features a 12 Megapixel iSight rear camera with True Tone flash. The iSight camera can record 4K videos. For selfies, it comes with a 1.2 Megapixel ƒ/2.4 front shooter. It comes in 32GB and 128GB internal storage options.

Apple iPhone SE price in India is Rs. 25,000 for 32GB. It comes in Silver, Grey, Gold and Rose Gold color options. Locally assembled devices will be available in the country this month.
