OnePlus has finally released much awaited Face Unlock feature to its OnePlus 5 smartphone. The popular feature was the main feature of recently released OnePlus 5T. Now the Chinese company has added the feature to its last year’s flagship device.

The company has released the new feature via Open beta program. OnePlus has released the Oxygen OS Open Beta 3 based on Android 8 Oreo for OnePlus 5 and has added new features. In the new beta build, the security patch has been updated to December 2017.

OnePlus 5 OxygenOS Open Beta 3 comes with following features:

  • Recorder
    • Added app shortcut on Launcher
  • System
    • Added Face Unlock :p
    • Optimizations for vibration
    • Fixed connection issue of 5G Wi-Fi
    • General bug fixes and improvements
    • Updated Android security patch to December

As of now the Face Unlock feature is available via official open beta only, the new face unlock feature will be released for all OnePlus 5 devices soon. The feature is expected to be available for all devices this month.

If you are on OxygenOS Open Beta, then you will get OTA update for OnePlus 5. If you want to join the beta program then follow the steps mentioned on OnePlus forum.

The Chinese company has also teased the Face Unlock feature for 2016 flagship devices – OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3. It is not revealed when these products will get the new feature but we think that it will be available soon.
