Samsung launched Galaxy S5 in late February during MWC. It was rumored that Samsung would launch two variants of Galaxy S5, normal model and premium model. But Samsung ended up launching only one Galaxy device. According to rumors, the premium version of Galaxy S5 called as Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime will feature an QHD Display and metallic body. But until now there was no confirmation about the device.
But recently, a new device with model number SM-G906S has been spotted on benchmark website GFXBench. According to benchmark result the said device features an QHD Display and improved processor. The specification from benchmark results matches the previous claims about premium version of Galaxy S5.
The SM-G906S features an 5.2 inch QHD display, it runs on 2.5 GHz Quad Core Snapdragon 805 processor with 3 GB of RAM. For graphics it has Adreno 420 GPU. For the camera it has 16 MP rear camera and 2 MP front camera. It has 32 GB Internal Memory. The device runs on Android Kitkat 4.4.2.
Samsung Galaxy S5 model number is SM-G900, So SM-G906S seems to be variants of Galaxy S5. Model number confirms that the said device could be Galaxy S5 Prime.
However soon after the benchmark result gone viral, GFXBench has removed the benchmark results from the website. As of now it is unclear that results are genuine or not.
So, if this SM-G906S is the Galaxy S5 Prime, then early buyers should wait before buying Galaxy S5. As Galaxy S5 offers nothing new, the above device is way better than original galaxy S5.
